Sepak Takraw

A one hour documentary shot as part of a series on unusual sports in Asia, for a programme to launch a new dedicated HD television Channel in the USA.

The programme was produced by Pennant Productions in Baltimore and directed by Will Schwarz. It was shot in 16:9 High Definition format on a pair of Sony Cinealta F900 cameras from Chesapeake cameras in NY.

The project documents the history and cultural heritage of the sport of Sepak Takraw, a game similar to volleyball but played with a wicker ball that can only touch the feet and head of the player.

It is considerably faster and more athletic than vollyball and the Thai World Champions are acrobatic masters of the court.

The film was shot at the world championship level of the S.E.A Games in Hanoi before the team travelled to Thailand to shoot imagery of the game being played in the more rural surroundings of Thai villages and towns.
