The Azurite is a revolutionary FSPSO commissioned by Murphy West Africa, a division of Murphy Oil Corporation for the deepwater development offshore from the Republic of the Congo.
It is the first time that an FPSO has been developed which also includes a mobile drilling rig and the configuration is an extremely cost effective solution for both drilling and producing deepwater wells. Converted from the tanker Fina Europe, the vessel in her new configuration is 311 meters in length and is designed to carry a total crew of 80 persons.
The vessel has a storeage capacity of 1.4 million barrels of oil and it is planned to be spread moored at a water depth of 1400 meters.
The combined aerial photography and videography took place in the Straits of Malacca as the vessel left on its maiden voyage for the Congo and the team from L'Image Cinematography operated from a Malaysian EC 350 provided by Intergrated Services in Subang, Kuala Lumpur.
