On the 11th June 1906, three classic sailboats crossed the startline at the San Pedro Lighthouse as the canon fired to initiate a 2225 nautical mile Trans Pacific Yacht Race from California to Honolulu, Hawaii. The first winner was skipper H.H. Sinclair in his 86ft schooner Lurline and exactly 100 years later, the TRANSPAC as it is now known celebrated its Centennial, making it one of the oldest sporting events in the modern world.

This project is the final of four personal films commissioned by Roy E. Disney as a special project to document the racing success of his sailing yacht Pyewacket, a highly successful, maxi-yacht with a revolutionary canting keel which makes it currently one of the fastest monohulls in the world.

In 1815, Mt Tambora erupted on the Indonesian island of Sumbawa Besar and the largest eruption in recorded history blew between 37 to 100 cubic miles of dust, ashes, and cinders into the atmosphere, generating a veil of volcanic dust that enveloped the globe. The dust cloud was so intense, parts of the Indonesian archipelago experienced total darkeness for three days.
