Hazebusters

A film to illustrate the concept of aerial water bombing techniques as a solution to combat the aerial haze problem experienced in S.E.Asia.

In 1998 Jeremy Cama, a Singapore based lawyer, launched the intitive to try and generate the finance necessary to encourage the countries of S.E Asia to adopt the technique. The concept was to utilize the versitile S64 Erikson Aircrane water bombers to attack the forest fires and eradicate the unhealthy haze blanketing the region

A specialist aerial camera team from Singapore comprising of a photographer and cinematography spent several days filming from a Bell 206 Jet Ranger helicopter over the jungles of Brunei as their aircraft functioned as a flame spotter for a fleet of Erikson Aircranes water bombers.

These unique rotor wing aircraft had been air-transported into Brunei especially for the job inside one of the worlds' largest freight aircraft, an Antonov 124-100.

The footage shot by the aerial camera team was so dramatic that it was subsequently used in a National Geographic global special about the problems and possible solutions to the haze in S.E Asia.
