Extensive aerial photographic coverage of the construction and development of the Nam Con Son offshore oil and gas project which is the biggest foreign oil and gas project in Vietnam.
The project was shot by Saigon production company Crea TV for their client BP Vietnam.
The photographer was required to make six expeditions to Vietnam from Singapore and innumerable helicopter flights to the rigs some 400kms from the coast. The team also made extensive aerial photographic documentation of the pipeline from the offshore gas fields to landfall and thence to the processing plant 100 kms inland from Vung Tau.
All members of the photographic production team had to be HUET accredited for the job (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) and received full safety training from BP to operate offshore in any weather conditions. Principal photography from the air and on board the rigs was provided by Laurie K. Gilbert.
The Nam Con Son gas project has an investment capital of US$1.3 billion contributed by the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Corporation (PetroViet Nam), the UK's BPEOC, India's ONGC and the US's Conoco Philips company.
