From 2nd October 1986 to 10th January 1987, laurie k. Gilbert of Electric Shadow Motion Pictures was employed as the only "on water cameraman' for the international television coverage of the America's Cup.
The coverage he provided from both nthe Challenger and the defenders cours each day was combined with helicopter footage into a twenty minute international televsiion package satellited around the world each night. In all, more than fifty networks were licenced to transmit this material.
he and his boat team were responsible for pioneering and devising many of the special techniques and camera boat manouvers that wre later adopted by the Australian Television Pool in their live coverage of the final series of the America's Cup.
The outstanding coverage that laurie provided for the satellite package each night received many compliments from international television networks around the world who received it, especially RAI Italy, ESPN USA and TF1 France.
I wpuld like to thank Laurie and his crew for their excellent and innovative work in the often extreme and difficult conditions off Gage Roads and I wish him all the best for the future. He comes highly recommended by myself and by Trans World International.
