1988 Olympics Sailing Regatta

Senior cameraman for an international television team responsible for the global television coverage of the Sailing Regatta for the XXIV Olympiad in Korea.

This was the first time that extensive television coverage was attempted for an Olympic yachting event and the event was sailed in very challenging wave conditions in the Sea of Japan offshore from Pusan, Korea.

A seven person camera team from Australia, supported by Korean production assistants, handled all the sailing action on five Olympic race courses - operating from the camera boats and a helicopter provided by the Korean military.

Despite losing their camera helicopter in the sea on the first day of shooting, the team were able to overcome all the challenges and produce coverage which won international acclaim from all the global broadcasters who received it.
